The Rain

So I'm sitting in my hotel room this morning, getting ready for the day when suddenly there is this roar outside. What the heck? I opened the door and experienced my first Samoan rain (I called it a "storm" and was mocked mercilessly by the locals). Apparently this is normal or at least not uncommon. But I've got to tell you this was no April-Showers-Bring-May-Flowers-West-Kaysville shower this was a get-the-kids-and-the-animals-and-meet-Noah-at-the-boat downpour. Unfortunately, these photos don't do it justice, but here's what I've got. (I'm going our armed with my camera tomorrow for some better photos).

Talofa

A few quick photos. Here is the waiting area in Hawaii to get on the plane to American Samoa.

On President's day I took my little brother and his wife and my little sister, Sara, and her husband on a snowshoeing trip up to the Salt Lake overlook in Millcreek Canyon.  I had a great time. Here are some photos taken my sister, Sara. Thanks for sharing Sara. And thanks to everyone for coming on our winter adventure.

Poor Girl

My two year old daughter, Mary, fell and cracked a bone in her leg. Apparently she didn't break her leg, just cracked the bone. Whatever. Anyway, she limps and looks very sad and cute but has been brave through the whole ordeal. To make things worse, she has barfed the last two mornings an hour before I was planning on waking up. Nothing better than cleaning up vomit at 6:00 a.m.

Jumping

Here are some photos of the kids jumping on the trampoline. This first one is exactly as I shot it. No cropping, editing, etc. I don't know why but I really, really like this photo.

These next two of Mary where taken by my wife and I really like them also. Good work Helen.

Weekend in Midway

We spent a weekend at my parent's home in Midway last week. Lots of good times although the weather turned bad Saturday afternoon. Friday evening we had a short bike ride around the neighborhood. Sorry no photos. Saturday morning we went on a family hike in the Wasatch State Park. Here are some of the happy hikers.

Here is Benjamin taking a break in a secret spot along the way.

We stopped for snacks in this nice little field.

After our hike we drove up to the top of memorial hill. Looks like we've got some fine soilders in the making.

More Family Photos

I've never held myself out to be nor do I consider myself a portait photographer. Too much pressure I guess. But from time to time people ask me to take their photos. Here are some I did for some friends recently -- I charge them nothing so no one feels like they didn't get what they paid for.
