Mount Timp Redux

Here are my photos from the Mt. Timp hike. We got an early start and hiked in the dark for awhile. After about 45 minutes the sun came up.

Here we are taking a short break in a lovely little valley on the backside of Timp.

Lots of great wild flowers. Reminded me of Albion Basin.

Nice little waterfall. We saw several waterfalls on the hike. We also saw some mountain goats but they were too far away to photograph.

This is Emerald Lake and what is left of the Mt. Timp "glacier" in the background. We saw a few people trying to slide down it, but they weren't making much progress. Most of them actually abandoned sliding and were just walking down. We decided to come back down the trail.

Here's Rick coming through the boulder field. Rough going through this stretch.

Here is a good shot of the valley that the Timpooneke Trails comes through. We were on the Aspen Trail. The two trails meet up just past where this photo was taken.

Here we are at the saddle. Those guys are are headed along the trail toward the summit. You can see how the trail goes along the ridge. Steep going from here on out, but the exposure wasn't as bad as I had expected.

Me at the saddle. The whole purpose of that hat was not to get sunburned. Still got a little sun on my neck.

Here we are getting closer to the summit. You can see the trail snaking its way up the mountain on the right side of the photo.

Looking south from the summit. This is the trail you follow if you want to go to the "glacier."

Here we are at the summit. Great shot of Dave's head. You can see the triangulation station in the background and the crowds.
